I am told that I could pick out melodies on the piano at the age of 3, such were the early beginnings of my love affair with music. In my early years, I taught myself to play guitar, piano/keyboards and drums and I began composing songs from about the age of 10.
I played bass in a band for a few years, but my musical ambitions were then rudely interrupted by a 25 year career in finance…! Through those years I was an occasional stand-in bassist and drummer for some bands, and I also played in some trio’s and duo’s in pubs and clubs. More recently I have performed as a duo with a female vocalist, and I occasionally do open mic sessions on my own.
I unapologetically love the idea of performing my songs at some of the great concert venues – que sera sera…
Since managing to finally escape a Banking ‘vocation’ so against my creative instincts a few years ago, I have developed a sort of determined vengeance to gain the commercial success that I feel I was circumstantially denied in my younger days.
That said, I gain huge satisfaction from simply composing and recording my own songs, the act of creating something from nothing. This process is something I just have to do and will always do, such is the irresistible urge I have to make music!
I like that my songs bring pleasure to many of those who hear them….
